CapEx Forecasting

The CapEx (Capital Expenditure) Engine is a Pro feature that projects your multi-year compliance liability across your entire portfolio. It translates inspection deadlines and potential fines into a financial forecast.

How the Engine Calculates Costs#

To build a multi-year forecast, the engine relies on historical data and regional market defaults. If an asset has no previous quoted inspection history, CompliCore uses the following baseline estimates per inspection:

• Elevators: $1,500
• Boilers: $800
• Fire & Sprinklers: $1,200
• Backflow Preventers: $250

Annual Escalation (Inflation): The forecasting engine automatically applies a 3.0% Annual Escalation Rate to any projected obligations occurring in future fiscal years. This ensures your multi-year forecasts aren't rendered inaccurate by flat nominal dollars.

Filter Bar Options#

You can slice your financial forecast using the multi-select filter bar at the top of the screen:

• Horizon: View your liabilities over the next 12, 24, or 60 months.
• Building: Isolate the forecast to one or more specific properties.
• State: Filter the forecast by jurisdiction (e.g., only view assets in VA).
• Category: View only specific asset types (e.g., Elevator vs Boiler costs).
• Status: Filter by asset health (e.g., only view costs associated with overdue assets).

The Chart Area#

The main chart visually plots your compliance spend over time.

• Monthly vs. Cumulative: Toggle to view your exact expected spend per month, or view the running total over the selected horizon.
• Projected CapEx (Blue Area): The estimated cost of performing the required inspections on time.
• Fine Exposure (Red Area): The estimated penalty fees you will incur if you fail to meet those deadlines.

The Ledger Table#

Below the chart is the CapEx Ledger. This is an itemized breakdown of every future event that makes up the chart.

• Grouping: You can group the ledger rows by "Building" or "Category" to easily see where the bulk of your budget is going.
• Columns:
  • Projected: The estimated cost of the inspection.
  • Variance: The difference between your set budget and the projected cost.
  • Exposure: The fine amount that will be triggered if the deadline is missed.
• Exporting: Click the "Export CSV" button to download this ledger for your accounting team.
